Hypothesis Testing Group members:  Nander (Iron Man) Tzer (Thor) Ashwati (Captain America) Daryl (Hulk) Nikkisha (me, Black Widow) Full factorial data Fractional factorial data Iron Man to use Run 2 from FRACTIONAL factorial and Run 2 from FULL factorial. Thor will use Run 4 from FRACTIONAL factorial and Run 4 from FULL factorial. Captain America will use Run 5 from FRACTIONAL factorial and Run 5 from FULL factorial. Hulk will use Run 4 from FRACTIONAL factorial and Run 4 from FULL factorial. Black Widow (me) will use Run 7 from FRACTIONAL factorial and Run 7 from FULL factorial. The QUESTION The catapult (the ones that were used in the DOE practical) manufacturer needs to determine the consistency of the products they have manufactured. Therefore they want to determine whether CATAPULT A produces the same flying distance of projectile as that of CATAPULT B.   Scope of the test The human factor is assumed to be negligi...

Self-Sterilizing Door Handle

Image
Garage Engineer's Prototype Hello, welcome back to my blog! I will be sharing with you what my group created and our journey. :D Our team was assigned to create a self-sanitizing door handle. It was truly a challenging task but we were determined especially after researching the statistics for the number of deaths from Covid-19 which was a staggering toll of 6 million. This pandemic/endemic truly inspired us to come up with a successful prototype shown above. Let us see how did we create this! Planning Firstly, we did our research about this self-sanitizing door handle which was created by University students. This was a truly aesthetically pleasing yet a very functional door handle. This door handle is made out of glass to allow UV light to pass through as UV light has its own anti-microbial properties. This door handle also has an photocatalytic coating made of titanium dioxide and a generator that converts kinetic energy into light energy. We were truly intrigued and inspired by...

DOE

Design of Experiments Hello! Welcome back to my blog. For this post, I'll be sharing about the activity that I did with Daryl on DOE! Daryl (CEO) and I (CFO), were tasked to create a data analysis on task 1. Study 1 Legend: A: Diameter               B: Time                C: Power These were the results given which we consolidated in the table shown above with - and + representing low and high values respectively. We also made another table shown below with the actual values for easy reference. FRACTIONAL FACTORIAL                                                                         A x B                                           ...

3D Printing

3D Printing In this session I have learnt how to 3D print an item out of scratch using Fusion 360. We were given instructions to create an item that cannot be made subtractively (can be cut or carved out). Such examples are a whistle and a ball in a box. During this experience I have encountered numerous issues such as the difficulty to create my design in Fusion 360 as I am not really experienced in using all the functions included and I have made an object that could have been made subtractively which was a Pokeball. Here is the model of my Pokeball.    I have only realised my mistake at the workshop and then decided to add hinges so that the Pokeball is able to open and close. After that procedure I faced another problem as it needed a support since it was a sphere. I was really clueless and had little guidance. Hence I have decided to create a new design and come back to the workshop another day. Heart Shape Box I came out with a simple yet appealing model of a heart s...

Arduino Programming

Arduino Programming Arduino is a platform where coding is simplified for educational purposes. We were given the Arduino Maker board which could make our coding turn to life. There are many things that we could create with creativity using the Arduino board. It could generate leg lights, melodies, control servo motors and many more! Resistors From this lesson, we have learnt how to calculate the resistance of the resistors based on the colour stripes on it. Each colour represents a number. Let's learn how to calculate! Since the first line is red, the first digit will be : 2 The second line is orange, hence the second digit will be : 3 The third line is yellow, hence the multiplier is 10^4 Therefore the resistance is : 23 x 10^4 = 230 k Ω Tolerance = +/- 10% Arduino Practical In this practical, our group was challenged to make a cardboard cutout unicorn's wings to flap using the Arduino motor.  We attached a single wing to the Arduino servo motor. We were given a limited supply...
